The relationship between the frequency and severity of restless legs syndrome and anaemia in patients with ankylosing spondylitis

Background The study aims to determine the frequency of restless legs syndrome (RLS) in patients with ankylosing spondylitis (AS) and relationship between International Restless Legs Syndrome Study Group Rating Scale (IRLSSG-RS) score anemia.
 Material Methods It was a case-control that included 106 AS age- sex-matched healthy controls rheumatology clinic training research hospital. were divided into two groups according their hemoglobin levels. A level lower than 12 g/dL women less 13 men criterion for Results Although RLS higher control groups, there no significant difference IRLSSG-RS groups. 23 (57.5%) anemia had RLS, 21.3±5.7. Of without anemia, 11 (16.7%) 15±6. Statistically differences regarding found. scores negatively correlated serum iron level.
